I wanted to start the social branding aspect of the business by connecting all of the social media pieces so they would be recognized that they are all the same owner. I did this by creating a logo that would also convey what I am about and what I am doing.
The first design I came up was in Solidworks. This would be second to actually making something. I could “make” the design digitally and see if I liked it before physically making it. If that was the path I wanted to go with it. Below is the first iteration of the logo.
I liked it, but it was right for a logo. It would be too hard to read when it is avatar sized. This logo has the C in wood, the b in leather, and the D in metal. With the CraftsbyDad plaque below. This somewhat showed what I wanted, but would not work as a logo.
The next iteration, I looked around to see what others were doing to brand themselves and saw that a lot of logos were single colored with think lined drawing or wording. Nothing too detailed and easy to read even when smaller. Below was the next try.
Simple and easy to read. Saw blade for woodworking and the letters of CraftsbyDad. I thought I could just go with just letters, but I wanted a little more to describe what else I do. I also thought if I could get the name in there and still be able to read it when it was smaller. That led to the final design for now. I am going to use this for now and may change it in the future as I grow and move into the brand further.
Kind of a fancier version of the second one, but adds more detail when close up and shows the name, nice and clear.
